About the Role:

Mass Virtual has an immediate opening for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer who has at least five years of professional (outside college) experience in the IT security domain. The ideal candidate will excel at hardening hardware/software, maintaining security documentation (POAM), and reviewing/auditing IT systems.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource
  • Performing vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying and defending against threats, and assist with developing disaster recovery plans
  • Configuring security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements.
  • Monitoring network traffic for suspicious behavior
  • Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction
  • Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice
  • Configuring and supporting security tools, such as firewalls and anti-virus software.
  • Training staff to understand and use security protocols
  • Hardening the environment to meet industry standards and requirements
  • Document security actions and assist with response team activities
  • Review and perform risk assessments and recommend security improvements

What you need to succeed:

  • 5+ years of professional experience as an IT administrator with a focus on security
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of computer, network, and security systems
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to new technologies
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)

Great to have:

  • Industry Certification (Security+, CASP, CISM, etc.)
  • Experience with STIG viewer or SCAP
  • In depth understanding of how security impacts operations and risk mitigation/acceptance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Security or Information Technology

  • In-office 100% of the time
