Join to apply for the SAAVE Advocate role at Westchester Medical Center Health Network Job Summary: To provide trauma-informed and victim/patient-centered crisis intervention advocacy, forensic exam accompaniment in WMC Emergency Department, safety planning, referral services, and general information to survivors and secondary victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, stalking, harassment, and general trauma. In addition, to accompany survivors to medical appointments, clinics, police departments, appointments with law enforcement and attorneys, and court appearances. Assist the Senior Director with day-to-day administrative maintenance of office, grants, trainings, screenings, and other tasks. Responsibilities: Accompany victims to medical/forensic exams, court, police stations, and other appointments. Provide information, referrals, practical assistance, and crisis intervention to victims. Conduct screenings in hospital for various types of victimology. Provide and oversee crisis interventions, supportive listening, and case management. Assist with victim compensation applications through NY State Office of Victims Services. Participate in countywide Lethality Assessment Program (LAP), including direct services, safety planning, data collection, and reporting. Provide information and referrals to victims for services on WMCHealth Valhalla campus and community partners. Perform trauma-informed screening and assessments for PTSD in adult and pediatric trauma patients. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Collaborate with police and other agencies to assist victims. Manage data for grant management and reporting. Coordinate with forensic and emergency teams regarding cases and statistics. Advocate for victims with service providers and court staff. Develop protocols and maintain program documentation. Follow-up with victims and maintain volunteer advocate training records. Answer crisis hotline and provide support and referrals. Coordinate team meetings, trainings, and oversee daily operations of Crime Victims Advocacy Services. Conduct outreach, education, and training within hospital network and community. Participate in meetings and professional development activities. Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: 0-3 years. Education: High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Certifications: SAAVE Rape Crisis Advocate, LAP advocate with Westchester County Domestic Violence High Risk Team (training provided). Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills; trauma-informed care knowledge; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
