Glenn Hubert Learning Center and Testing Center is currently seeking a Reading Center Tutor . The part-time Reading Center Tutor tutors a diverse population of both undergraduate and graduate students in the Reading Center. The tutor works in the Reading Center approximately 10-15 hours per week, Mondays through Fridays, preferably during daytime hours. This position is In-person . Essential Functions Provides one-on-one and small-group tutorial services to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. Conducts tutorials focusing on reading strategies, study skills, test-taking strategies, and vocabulary building. Differentiates strategies and instructional materials to meet individual students’ needs. Monitors students’ performance on Reading Plus, a web-based program students must utilize outside the tutoring sessions. Engages students using active learning strategies. Fosters student autonomy, as developmentally appropriate. Motivates students by being an active listener. Respects students’ diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Documents student work and progress using established processes and systems; enters data in a timely manner; communicates with the Reading Center Coordinator about students with challenging or unique situations, documenting details accordingly. Participates in professional development and training sessions related to tutoring responsibilities. Maintains currency in the content area and technological resources; develops new instructional materials and strategies. Participates in departmental meetings and serves as a proctor for student placement testing. Monitors and replenishes consumable materials used in tutoring. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Reading required; Master’s in Reading or TESOL preferred. Reading Endorsement or Reading Certification required. 3-5 years of related experience. Ability to analyze assessment data and implement appropriate interventions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word). Basic knowledge of Scantron and copy machines. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
