  • Analyzing HV systems for proper protections and arc flash mitigation, using tools like ETAP, Pspice
  • Creating electric powertrain system and sub-system diagrams
  • Ensuring proper overload protection device selection and coordination
  • Defining, integrating, and validating high voltage components in machine powertrain applications
  • Driving requirements definition in support of electrical safety standards (IEEE, NFPA, IEC, ISO, UN)
  • Assisting technical leads in conveying software requirements and component electronic information for HV diagnostics, events, and warnings to the various controls’ teams
  • Virtual audits of HV powertrain systems for grounding, bonding, and cable selection / routing
  • Supporting machine commissioning by evaluating compliance with standards, documenting and resolving issues and verifying safe operating procedures
  • Development of HV system design guides, leveraging best practices and lessons from prior machine projects
  • Sizing high voltage cables in powertrain applications
  • Troubleshooting and analysis of field data
  • Educating process partners on the hazards and best practices for working on high voltage electrical systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-voltage (HV) systems analysis, design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting for diesel-electric, hybrid, and battery-electric applications.
  • Develop and review HV schematics and single-line diagrams; conduct cable sizing, load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and fuse coordination analysis using ETAP or similar tools.
  • Define and cascade requirements aligning with industry standards (e.g., IEC 60204, IEC 61439, IEEE 992) and audit designs for safety, grounding, bonding, and cable routing improvements.

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience in HV electrical systems (>600V DC) design, analysis, and integration.
  • Proficiency in system-level tools for load flow, schematics, short circuit, and fuse coordination (ETAP or similar).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in automotive, EV, industrial power distribution, or switchgear applications.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and industry standards for HV systems.
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of HV equipment.
