Job Description
Job Title: Certified Substance Abuse Counselor
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Duffield, VA
Open to Residency Candidates
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct substance abuse assessments and determine appropriate levels of care.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based approaches.
Facilitate educational groups on substance use, relapse prevention, and recovery strategies.
Document services, progress notes, and treatment updates in a timely and accurate manner.
Collaborate with treatment teams, referral sources, and community partners.
Assist clients in crisis and connect them with appropriate support services.
Participate in clinical supervision (as required for residency candidates).
Maintain compliance with ethical, professional, and legal standards.
Requirements:
One of the following credentials (or working toward):
CSAC – Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (Virginia)
Residency candidate enrolled in a Virginia Board of Counseling-approved substance abuse certification program
Minimum of 1 year of experience providing substance use or behavioral health services (internship/practicum may be considered for residency candidates).
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
Basic knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment methods, and recovery models.
