Design Assurance Inspector & CAD Design Technologist (AutoCAD/SolidWorks)

Express Employment Professionals of Rancho Cucamonga is seeking a multidisciplinary professional who can fuse CAD drafting/design with QA/QC inspection to support engineering, production, and fabrication efforts.
A day in the role
- Translate engineering sketches and specifications into accurate 2D/3D AutoCAD and SolidWorks models.
- Head to the shop to perform dimensional checks on first articles and finished products, confirming every feature aligns with the drawings.
- Return to your workstation to revise drawings, update tolerances, and prepare materials lists for release.
- Join a quick huddle with engineers, project managers, and production to ensure feasibility, safety, and compliance with industry codes and company standards.
- Document findings, drive corrective actions when needed, and help keep project documentation current and organized.
What you'll handle
Drafting & Design
- Create and modify 2D/3D technical drawings and models in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (general arrangement, manufacturing, and installation drawings).
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design inputs to produce accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and production teams to ensure feasibility and accuracy.
- Revise and update drawings to reflect design changes and improvements.
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), conduct tolerance analysis, and support material selection.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry codes, safety standards, and company requirements.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Inspect first articles and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform quality control checks on fabricated and purchased items.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to verify conformance with project design requirements.
- Document and report quality findings, ensuring corrective actions are taken as needed.
- Assist in design reviews, testing protocols, and bid evaluations.
Project Coordination
- Manage and update project documentation including calculations, drawings, specifications, and equipment lists.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and problem-solving sessions.
- Support project management with tracking systems and project checklists.
- Prepare operations and maintenance manuals for final project handoff.
What you bring
- 5+ years of drafting/design experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, CAD, or related technical field.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, drafting standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and clear written & verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Awareness of environmental and safety considerations in design and fabrication.
