Registered Dietitian – Correctional Facility (California Institution for Women)

The Registered Dietitian (RD) at the California Institution for Women is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring nutrition services that support the health and medical needs of an incarcerated population. The RD ensures compliance with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) policies, state regulations, and evidence-based nutrition standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess nutritional needs of patients, including those with chronic conditions and special diets
• Develop, implement, and monitor therapeutic and medically prescribed diets
• Provide nutrition education and counseling as clinically indicated
• Ensure menus meet nutritional, safety, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, mental health, and food service staff
• Document nutrition care and maintain accurate health records
• Monitor food service operations for compliance with health and sanitation standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
• Current Registered Dietitian credential
• Valid California licensure (if required)
• Ability to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment
