Job Description

MedServe has a vision of transforming how medication is managed at the point of care. Hundreds of healthcare organizations and thousands of providers trust MedServe’s technology every day to securely track medications and provide insight into inventory levels, and compliance with federal and state regulations. 

The Chief of Staff, Technology is a critical leadership role at MedServe and will act as a trusted advisor and operational leader, managing critical technology initiatives, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring strategic alignment between technical vision and business objectives of MedServe. This role requires both technical acumen and executive-level operational skills. A successful candidate in this role could transition to run MedServe's technology organization in 10 to 16 months.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Partner with the President and CEO to develop and execute technology product strategy, roadmaps, and long-term vision
  • Lead strategic initiatives and special projects that require cross-functional coordination
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and technology trend assessment
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions and quarterly business reviews

Operations & Process Management

  • Streamline engineering operations, processes, and governance frameworks
  • Oversee resource allocation, and vendor management for technology initiatives
  • Implement and optimize customer support, engineering metrics, KPIs, and reporting systems
  • Manage technology team communications, including sprints, all-hands meetings and executive updates
  • Oversee IT security and ensure compliance SOC 2.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as primary liaison between engineering and other departments (product, sales, marketing, legal)
  • Facilitate resolution of cross-team conflicts and alignment issues
  • Lead crisis management and incident response coordination
  • Drive organizational change management for technology initiatives

Team Development & Culture

  • Support technology team hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies
  • Develop and implement engineering career development programs
  • Foster engineering culture and advocate for team needs at executive level
  • Coordinate training and technical skills development

Executive Support

  • Prepare executive presentations, board materials, and strategic communications
  • Represent the President in meetings and serve as their proxy when needed
  • Manage President's calendar, priorities, and stakeholder relationships related to technology
  • Conduct due diligence for technology partnerships and acquisitions

Required Qualifications

Technical Background

  • 5+ years of software engineering or technical product management experience
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, architecture, and modern technology stacks
  • Experience with cloud platforms (ideally Azure), DevOps practices, and scalable system design
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, etc.)

Leadership & Business Skills

  • 3+ years in senior management, consulting, or chief of staff roles
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and complex initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience with budget management and resource planning

Communication & Interpersonal

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong facilitation and conflict resolution abilities
  • Experience presenting to executive teams and board members

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Relevant certifications in project management (PMP, Agile, etc.) a plus

Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as Product Manager, Project Manager, or Chief of Staff in high-growth technology organizations
  • Background in high-growth startups or enterprise software companies
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and security frameworks
