Job Summary Produces high quality decorated items and baked goods according to the company’s standard product offerings, decorates cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.  Assists in the daily operations in the bakery department.  Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions.  Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Essential Responsibilities SERVICE – 40% – Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated; ensures merchandise is merchandised per plan; offers product samples and assistance; maintains an efficient and organized method of receiving and processing customer orders; decorates merchandise per customer request using decoration kits and freehand skills. FINANCIAL – 40% – Completes daily and weekly tasks; processes and bakes merchandise according to production guidelines; reviews product quality and freshness; manages inventory, restocks and uses supply items efficiently; ensures proper temperature control and documentation of logs. LEADERSHIP – 10% – Promotes trust and respect among associates; guides team to meet or exceed goals; adheres to all laws and company guidelines. COMPLIANCE/SAFETY – 10% – Maintains safety standards and food handling practices; ensures compliance with USDA, DOA, and other regulations; executes recalls, removes unsafe items, reports accidents and hazards; upholds wage and hour policies and cultivates a safety culture. Qualifications Required Education: High School / GED Preferred Education: None specified Language Requirements: English (required), Spanish (preferred) Relevant Experience: 0–3 years supervisory experience minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be 18 years of age. Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain the same. Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Exceptional communication and motivational skills. Basic math knowledge. Ability to handle stressful situations. Operate bakery equipment according to company guidelines. Proficiency with computer applications used in effectively operating the department. Possession of Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of placement. Environmental Factors: Retail – Bakery: Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, carrying up to 35 lbs, occasional climbing to 10 ft. Working conditions may involve indoor/outdoor, cold, hot, and wet environments. Safety risk factors include slippery surfaces and hazardous equipment. Shift(s) & Travel Varied shifts; occasional travel, no overnight. Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years of age. Floater ONLY: Must travel at least 80% of the time. Compliance with all Winn‑Dixie policies and procedures. Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently. Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain the same. Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check. Preferred Qualifications High standard of integrity and reliability. Ability to distinguish color and contrast. Job Tag Provide continuous attention to guest needs; greet, assist and thank guests in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner. Maintain products as needed to present appropriate quantity, quality and variety in display case. Offer product suggestions when appropriate. Maintain an efficient and organized method of receiving and processing guest orders. Process/bake merchandise according to production guidelines; proof products to ensure quality assurance. Decorate merchandise per guest request ensuring satisfaction with all products. Receive and unload delivery truck and store products in designated area. Stock and rotate department products to ensure freshness and date control; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost. Operate department equipment and tools. Keep work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report faulty equipment and hazards to management. Notify management of team member theft, guest shoplifting, unauthorized mark‑downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
